Beauty Tips for Winter Season: Winter Skin Care
Winter is a time when your skin and hair go dry and unmanageable. But, if you follow a regular beauty regime, you can stay looking fabulous and glowing even during the winter season. Here we are going to discuss a few beauty tips that will help you get ready to face the winter and keep your skin glowing and the hair soft and smooth.
Winter Beauty Tips for Glowing Skin:
Drink sufficient water:
While moisturizers keep your skin moisturized from outside, drinking water helps in keeping your skin hydrated from inside. So, drink lots of water in winter season also. Most of you drink lots of water in summer months but drink very less water in winter thinking that it is not that necessary. However, the air that blows in winter is very dry and makes your skin and hair very dry. So drink lots of water in winter also to keep your skin well hydrated from inside. Water makes your body and skin healthy.
Winter is the time when your hair turns dry and brittle. So, try not to blow dry your hair during the winter months. Hot blow drier makes your hair all the more dry and worsen the condition of your hair. The best way to dry your hair in winter is to use towel. If you want to use a drier, try to use it as less as possible.
Increase blood circulation:
The cold air that blows in winter leads to a slowing down of blood circulation in the body. This contributes all the more to the dryness of the skin. So try to increase the blood circulation and keep your skin well toned by brushing your skin regularly. Take a long handled natural bristle brush and brush your body with it in small circular motions. Do this daily for a few minutes before you go for a shower. This will help in increasing the blood circulation in the body and also keeps your skin firm and smooth.
Mask it up:
During winters the best way to get back the moisture that you have lost throughout the day is to use a good moisturizing facial mask. If you apply an oil based moisturizer on your skin, your skin will remain well moisturized and soft. It helps in normal production of sebum by the skin and keeps it well moisturized. Coconut oil, sesame oil, shea or cocoa butter etc are good for your skin in winter. Which of them you apply depends on how much moisture your skin requires. If your skin is oily even in winter, then you need not use oil.
Moisturize:
During winter months it is very important to moisturize your skin throughout the day. After taking bath, apply a good body lotion on your skin. Cream based body lotion is better as it helps in locking extra moisture into your skin. Take care to moisturize your hands, knees, elbows and feet also. Moisturizers with shea butter, tea tree oil, mineral oil or glycerin are the best for winters. These lock the moisture into your skin and prevent it from getting dry. It is better not to use petroleum-based products because these form a coating on the skin but do not moisturize the skin.
Proper diet additions:
To have a healthy skin, nail and hair, moisturizing is very important. Along with this, proper diet is also very essential. The health of your skin in winter depends to a large extent on the food that you eat. So make sure that you eat healthy food. Add enough dietary fatty acids in your regular diet. Fish oil, for example, is good for providing you healthy membranes that help the body cells to retain adequate water in them. Taking multivitamins is said to be good for maintaining a healthy skin. Nuts are also good in winter.
Pucker up your lips:
Most of the people suffer from chapped and dry lips in winter. So use a lip balm that has at least SPF 15. This will provide your lips extra protection and prevent drying of lips. If the crack on the lips is deep and painful, you can use lip balms with tea tree oil in it. This can heal the painful cracks fast and also add more moisture to the lips than the other lip balms. Lip balms with phenol and bees wax are also good for dry lips.
Skip hot showers:
In winter you are tempted to have hot showers and you really feel good after a hot shower. But this is not a good idea. It will make your skin and hair even more dry by stripping off the moisture. Instead, take lukewarm shower in winter and then pat dry your skin with a towel. This will keep your skin well moisturized and prevents it from getting dry and flaky.
Take your beauty sleep:
Always try to have enough sleep. This is not only good for keeping away the dark circles, but also keeps you healthy and strong. A good sleep promotes the normal functioning of the immune system and makes it strong. Body repair and maintenance also take place during the time you sleep.
Try a creamy cleanser for the face:
Cleansers are essential for cleaning you face but they often remove moisture from your skin ain the process of removing all traces of makeup, dirt and other impurities from the face Gel cleansers can make your face very dry but if you choose creamy cleansers, they will not dry your face. So choose creamy cleansers for winter months. This will lock the moisture in your skin and protect your skin from getting dry.
Next time when winter approaches, try out some the above mentioned tips and you will enjoy your winter without lamenting about your dry skin and brittle hair.
